Introduction to N4 Grammar Particles

Essential N4 Particles and Usages

Particles (joshi) are suffixes that follow nouns, verbs, or adjectives to indicate their role in a sentence. 

に (ni): Used for specific time, direction of action, or the doer in passive sentences.

で (de): Indicates the location of an action or the method/means used.

を (o/wo): Marks the direct object of a verb.

から (kara) / まで (made): Respectively indicate the starting point/reason and the endpoint/extent of an action.

より (yori): Primarily used for comparisons ("than").

も (mo): Functions as "also" or "too".
